An unseen work is coming to the Grand Rapids Symphony and will be closing out its 95th season in the spring of 2025. Focusing on the natural world surrounding us is Jack Heggie's new piece, Earth 2.0, which explores ecology and the environment through music and dance, as performed by the Urban Bush Women dance troupe. In addition to Heggie's composition, there will be a performance of R. Strauss's Tod und Verklarung, also known as Death and Transfiguration, which depicts the life and death of an artist on his journey to heaven. Music director of the GR Symphony, Marcelo Lehninger will conduct the evening, and choreography has been supplied by Urban Bush Women founder, Jawole Zollar. Join the symphony in the exciting and groundbreaking finale of the season!

Indie rock ain't dead and bands like Hippo Campus are proving its alive, kicking and evolving to new heights! Formed in 2013 when frontman Jake Luppen, guitarist Nathan Stocker, bassist Zach Sutton and drummer Whistler Isaiah Allen met at the Saint Paul Performing Arts Conservatory in their native Minnesota, the quartet quickly became a fixture in their local indie scene before graduating to the mainstream with the release of their debut album Landmark in 2017.
